Job Summary

Responsible for the supervision of associates involved in tracking and processing of Leave of Absence, inclusive of Family Medical Leave of Absence (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). Oversee the leave management process using software to centralize the information and automate tasks and workflows.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Oversees workflow delegation tasks to ensure leave requests and approvals are processed and tracked accurately and timely, in conjunction with the leave of absence administrator vendor.

  • Develops, recommends, and implements systems and procedural changes for the Leave Management process.

  • Supports White Cap in managing the relationship with the Leave Management vendor.

  • Reviews the processing of transactions to ensure expectations are met surrounding policy standards.

  • Provides ongoing training to staff on company policies, procedures, standards, and applicable leave and accommodation laws including FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.

  • Monitors the assignment of other leave requests, which may include accommodation requests under ADA and requests for guidance from the manager.

  • Responds to problems from other departments and associates that cannot be resolved at the direct report level.

  • Assumes responsibility for all Leave Management-related exceptions.

Nature and Scope

  • Experience provides solutions.

  • Ensures that work is performed consistently with company policies and procedures.

  • Leads a group or team of support, craft, or lower level professional associates.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources Administration or a related field is preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of ADA, Multi-state disability laws, FMLA requirements, and related state and federal regulations.

  • Experience coaching and supervising associates is preferred.

  • Demonstrated analytical, organization, problem-solving, critical reasoning, and customer service skills.
