Responsible for carrying out the area operations initiatives with regards to policy, procedures and training.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
Troubleshoots with branches on operational issues and provides solutions to issues.
Works with branch managers, operations specialists, purchasing, and regional managers to ensure policies and procedures are followed and enforced. Conducts follow-up visits to branches when necessary to ensure that policies and procedures that have been implemented and are being followed.
Works with regional purchasing to reduce excess and obsolete inventories.
Trains management of new locations or acquisitions within the region on policies, procedures and operations.
Provides training to management on P&L statements, budgets, daily routines and reporting.
Works with branch managers to identify training needs for associates and provides training resources to ensure policies and procedures are followed.
Assists with conversion of new acquisitions in the region as needed.
Nature and Scope
Solutions require analysis and investigation.
Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.
Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.
Typically located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in a physical environment. Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Ability to make repetitive movements, such as using a 10-key or calculator, bending, or squatting.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
- Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
Strong operations coaching, advisory and influencing experience
Proficiency with internal systems, including Oracle & Excel
Knowledge of White Cap products & value-added services
Comfort with frequent travel (30% +) within the region
This role can sit in a flexible location within the South Central region, preferably with easy access to a major airport
