Job Description & Qualifications

Job Summary

Maintain and sustain a proactive channel of communication with management regarding purchasing and inventory decisions impacting their business. Responsible for approving purchase orders to cover stock outages. Generate performance reports for underperforming product lines and initiate resolution plan of action. Manage new processes, training new buyers and gathering best practices and development strategies. Supervise a team of Buyers.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

Supervises purchasing activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and overall order fulfillment.

Creates and develops new purchasing processes and trains new buyers.

Creates and develops new purchasing processes and trains new buyers.

Conducts analysis and correction of price discrepancies utilizing accounting business partners.

Leverages management input to ensure target freight levels are achieved to maximize profit margins.

Maintains communications lines with field sales and management to ensure highest service levels are achieved.

Ensures that work is performed consistently with company policies and procedures.

Leads a group or team of support, craft, or lower level professional associates.

Work Environment

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
