Responsible for managing all accounting activities for acquisitions and divestitures, including opening balance sheets, intangible valuation, and documentation of prospective financial information and support of newly acquired company’s accounting activities in the post-close period.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
Provide support and thought leadership to team through development of opening balance sheet, purchase accounting and related financial reporting activities
Lead communications and reviews of information related to intangible valuation valuations
Respond to valuation questions from external auditors through collaboration with management and valuation consultants
Ensure appropriate documentation for opening balance sheets and valuation assumptions.
Develop appropriate key controls related to accounting for acquisitions
Review acquisition related accounts and ensure properly reconciled and rolled forward
Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure all significant aspects of the acquisition are documented in the purchase accounting memo
Assist in supporting accounting and finance teams of newly acquired companies
Support working capital settlements and closing statements
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking and/or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or a related field with 7-10 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience
Significant experience with purchase accounting for a public company
Able to plan, execute and communicate results; team oriented and collaborative
Blend of private and public accounting, including public accounting experience through at least the manager level
Well-developed understanding of US GAAP
