White Cap Equipment Rental Manager in Geismar, Louisiana

Job Summary

Manage the Equipment Rental department as a separate P&L center. Act as a member of Store Management with operations management responsibilities as assigned.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Develops and manages sales programs, including promotional campaigns to increase department profit and performance.

  • Manage all costs as they relate to equipment repairs and maintenance. Manages areas as a profitable entity.

  • Performs weekly and monthly equipment rental inventories to ensure appropriate equipment inventories.

  • Monitors equipment rental transactions to track lost or stolen equipment, including filing police and insurance reports as needed.

  • Opens and closes, authorizes refunds, and handles customer problems in addition to other duties as assigned. Responsible for acting as Duty Manager as scheduled.

  • Develops department goals and training programs for staff.

  • Oversees forklift maintenance and daily completion of pre-operation checklist.

Nature and Scope

  • Solutions require analysis and investigation.

  • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.

  • Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in a physical environment. Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Ability to make repetitive movements, such as using a 10-key or calculator, bending, or squatting.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Management experience in a similar industry or successful completion of Contractors’ Warehouse Management Training Program.

• Previous experience in managing functional departments.
