Job Description & Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for master data, data governance, and data quality processes for the business. Recommends policies and procedures for data governance and master data in conjunction with the Data Governance team and Data Governance council. Identifies data quality opportunities and drives compliance with data governance and quality initiatives.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

Identifies and defines the strategic data governance model and structure that is required to support current and future state data management initiatives.

Manages the implementation of approved data definitions, policies, standards, process data, and dashboard statistics.

Analyzes and identifies data sources, data redundancy, and implements processes to remediate data issues and/or data clean-up efforts.

Determines the strategic design of the data quality dashboard.

Manages the implementation of approved data definitions, policies, standards, process data, and dashboard statistics.

Identifies process redesign opportunities that include current system enhancements or the need for new technology.

Develops communications related to data governance and master data initiatives, coordinates change management and training activities and provides regular updates to leadership.

Selects staff, conducts performance appraisals, ensures professional development and recommends termination of staff as needed.

Solutions require analysis and investigation.

Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.

Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.

Work Environment

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about. Occasionally there may be a requirement to stoop or lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications & Job Specific Details

Preferred Qualifications

  • Defining and assessing of Data Governance strategy, architecture and practices, and technology implementation

  • Demonstrating experience leading Data Governance projects to define strategy and roadmap, operating model, policies/standards, and tool design and process documents

  • Possessing knowledge and experience with at least one major data governance enterprise platform (e.g., Collibra, Alation, or Informatica), with background in DCAM or related data governance frameworks

  • Possessing knowledge and experience with data analysis and enterprise metadata management, especially in the context of Privacy and Data Lifecycle use cases

  • Having experience deploying data lineage and data flow inventory solutions

  • Demonstrating experience implementing structured data archiving and data lifecycle management activities

  • Managing teams implementing Data Governance tools with a complex business environment, through requirements gathering, building, testing, and production roll-out

  • Managing a team and/or work stream on engagement(s), development of staff, and communications with executives

  • Leading project planning, engagement administration, budget management, and the successful completion of engagement work streams

  • Understanding of information governance and data lifecycle management, including retention management;

  • Possessing knowledge and experience with overall data architecture, profiling, quality, metadata management etc.

  • Leading evaluation of new solutions and services, providing a business case on whether the organization should develop skills and vendor relations within new Data Governance solutions and technologies.
