Position Overview

White Cap is launching its Finance Leadership Program (FLP) for 2023. Graduating students with a bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, and related majors are invited to apply to join White Cap, a rapidly growing, privately held, $4+ billion specialty building products distributor, based in Atlanta. In this role, candidates will gain exposure to various aspects of accounting, finance, and strategy as they support White Cap's pursuit of organic growth, process improvement, management reporting, acquisition and integration of targets, management of its capital structure, and development of its investor relations strategy, including its ESG / sustainability framework.

The FLP is a two-year rotational program designed to expose high-potential recent graduates to a variety of real-world finance topics in an enriching, supportive, and fast-paced environment. In each assignment, you will work alongside tenured members White Cap’s growing finance team, including the following:

  • Account Services

  • Accounting and Controllership

  • Business Intelligence

  • Commissions and Sales Support

  • Field Finance

  • Financial Integration

  • Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Internal Audit

  • Investor Relations

  • M&A Finance

  • Risk Management

  • Strategic Finance

  • Treasury

Initial rotational assignments will be determined by White Cap’s Finance leadership team. Future assignments will consider each FLP participant’s interests and preferences. The duration of each assignments will vary between six and nine months.

The immersive work experience will be complemented by a curriculum of weekly seminars, lunch-and-learns, and networking opportunities with members of White Cap’s management team to help FLP participants develop critical skills outside of their specific rotational areas and build a broad-based network.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Works with various departments in finance to analyze data for business initiatives.

  • Supports information technology, human resources, investor relations, strategic business development, real estate, and other functions in capital allocation, management reporting, and ad hoc projects.

  • Assists with preparing quarterly forecasts and annual strategic planning processes.

  • Performs research to provide recommendations on operational issues.

  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and normalizes disparate data from various internal and external sources to create comprehensive financial models for determining projections and trends.

  • Assists with developing and preparing strategic and ad-hoc analyses and presentations.

Required Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in business, finance, accounting, economics, and related majors from a four-year institution with a graduation date by June 2023.

  • Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.

  • Professional internship experience is preferred.

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.3 of higher.

  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills required

  • Ability to work full-time from our Atlanta offices (your actual work experience may be partially virtual)

Environmental Job Requirements

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong financial statement analysis and in-depth project/business valuation.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or related quantitative discipline.
